Companies have to put extra effort into recruitment in these days of low unemployment, and one that is doing that with style is Musgrave Retail Partners.

Its representatives are present today in The Greville Arms Hotel in Mullingar (and will be at Harry’s of Kinnegad tomorrow) and they are looking for warehouse staff to join the team at the company’s Kilcock Distribution Centre.

Dawn Nugent, who looks after recruitment in Leinster for warehouse positions and drivers for Musgrave, told the Westmeath Examiner this morning: “We are increasing our head count in the lead-up to Christmas and we’re offering full-time, permanent, pensionable jobs.

“We have flexible rosters, our salary is competitive in warehousing work. They’re ambient depots (anything that you don’t have to put in a fridge or a freezer, health and beauty, alcohol, pasta, biscuits, that sort of products).”

Pointing out that the warehouse in Kilcock is about 25 minutes from Mullingar, Dawn said it is a 24/7 operation and they give staff fixed shifts – day work or night work “whichever they prefer”.

“We have around 600 people working on that site, and about 150 of them are from the Mullingar, Kinnegad area and we’re looking to get more people from this neck of the woods.”

Dawn said that the Musgraves are a proud Irish family and they like to hire local. “It’s challenging times at the moment. Ireland is at full employment but we are the type of business that are attracting people to us. We’re inviting people who maybe are in employment to come and look at our offering.”

That offering is attractive. Dawn elaborated: “We have a gym on site in our facility, we have a subsidised canteen, we have a great engagement calendar – we do things like Easter egg hunts, we have family days on site.

“We have a good pension scheme and we do profit shares as well, so when people work with us for a period of time, they get company shares. We offer a good package – we have bonus pay, shift pay, and we would have a lot of overtime if you want to work it. And they’re stable positions, weekly paid.”

If you would like to find out more about what Musgrave is offering, Dawn and her colleague Tracey Hughes are at the Greville Arms today, Tuesday August 13, till 4pm, and tomorrow, Wednesday August 14, at Harry’s of Kinnegad from 10am till 4pm.
