Lorraine Keane to chair hormone health event for women

In advance of World Menopause Day on Friday October 18, a hormone health talk is being held in Mullingar to encourage women across the county to start their own conversations on hormone health.

Hosted by Cleanmarine, the event is at The Annebrook House Hotel on Wednesday October 16 (from 7.30-9pm). Tickets cost €10.

Chairing the event will be Cleanmarine ambassador and broadcaster Lorraine Keane, and the speakers are consultant endocrinologist Dr Mary Ryan, as well as Cleanmarine’s nutritional therapist Sarah Brereton.

Lorraine Keane believes it is important to talk about the issue: “I am amazed at how many women approach me to share their hormone health stories but feel they cannot talk to their partners or friends about how they are feeling.

It’s time we start talking about our hormone health, educating ourselves on the symptoms and finding solutions so we can live our best lives, every day,” she says.

Dr Mary Ryan concurs, warning that most women are not aware that their hormone health is being compromised until they are completely exhausted or develop illnesses.

“It is my passion to educate women on hormone health and empower them for generations in doing so,” she said, adding that learning to manage our hormone health is vital, especially for women over 40.

“I am delighted that Cleanmarine have asked me back to educate women about hormone health in 2019 and look forward to visiting Mullingar this week.”

Also speaking about starting the hormone health conversation, Cleanmarine nutritional therapist Sarah Brereton says that as a in her job she is very aware of her hormone health, but most women she speaks to are not.

“Some simple changes to our diets and daily routines can bring immense improvements to hormone health,” Sarah says.

Cleanmarine has also developed a ‘Book Club Hormone Health Pack’ to help women kick start their own chats about hormone health.

It includes a starter question guide, eight copies of ‘The Essential Guide to Female Hormones’ by nutritionist Susie Debice and a panel of experts, bookmarks and some herbal tea. So, all you need to do is grab a kettle and your group of friends to start this important conversation today!
