Monday of this week marked the end of an era in the commercial history of Mullingar, as that is when Joe and Ida Coppola retired from the take-away food business.

The have been proprietors of the Malocca Café, later Coppola’s Take-away, since 1965 and, with their son Anthony in charge over the last 15 years, have been in the business for 54 years.

Joe and Ida have decided it is time to fully retire and are leasing the shop from Monday, October 14. The name will remain Coppola’s Take-away.

It is an emotional, yet exciting time for the family, and they have stated: “Joe, Anthony, Ida and Annamaria, would like to thank all our loyal customers over the years.

“We are handing over our business to the capable hands of Emri and Egzon and sincerely hope you continue to support them in Coppola’s Take-away.”
