Ireland’s largest pet retailer, Maxi Zoo, has announced that its annual ‘Friendship Connects, Give Paw’ fundraising campaign raised €38,252 for the 2019 charity partner, Dogs Trust.

The campaign ran from October to January following a launch by model and broadcaster Glenda Gilson and her four-legged friend, Yazz.

Maxi Zoo sold limited edition ‘Give Paw’ bracelets for €2.50 each at its 20 stores nationwide, and 100% of the proceeds went to Dogs Trust.

The funds will be used to provide all of the dogs in the trust’s rehoming centre with the resources they so deserve, from food and dog treats, to interactive toys.

Following the success of the ‘Give Paw’ campaign, Glenda Gilson said: “As a true dog lover I’m delighted to have been part of this campaign, which raised an incredible amount of money for Dogs Trust.

“Every dog deserves a second chance and Dogs Trust works so hard to find them their forever home, which is why this campaign was so special.”

Anthony Cremin, marketing manager at Maxi Zoo Ireland, said: “We’re so grateful to everyone who supported our ‘Give Paw’ campaign for Dogs Trust and are pleased to be able to contribute the outstanding amount of €38,252 to our deserving charity partner.

“As a nation of pet lovers, it’s no surprise that the public really gets behind this campaign every year, so we’d like to thank our customers, first and foremost, for helping us to make a real difference in this way.”

Louise Sherwin, Philanthropy and Corporate Fundraising at Dogs Trust, added: “We are thrilled with the amount that Maxi Zoo’s ‘Give Paw’ campaign has raised for the dogs and puppies in our Rehoming Centre.

“Maxi Zoo shares our passion for giving our dogs the best care we can, and their efforts, and those of their customers, will go a long way towards ensuring that the dogs in our care are as happy and comfortable as possible.

“On behalf of all our furry friends here in Dogs Trust, I extend our sincerest thanks to all those who supported this amazing Maxi Zoo campaign.”

‘Friendship Connects, Give Paw’ is an annual campaign that is run by Maxi Zoo and the Fressnapf Group across Europe. The 2019 campaign raised a total €1.3 million for animal charities across Europe.
