Fleadh team set to spell out full detail at public open day

Should you rent your house out for the fleadh? Are the organisers seeking extra hands? What will the fleadh mean for motorists? Where will be the best places to hear live performances?

Those are just some of the questions that a fleadh team will be answering at a walk-in information day at the Atrium of the County Buildings Mullingar this Saturday February 29, between noon and 3pm.

“The last couple of months we have been very busy with all the ‘technical’ bits relating to Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann such as arranging tenders and competition venues and insurance, so we’re ready now to start getting all the information out there,” says Joe Connaire, chairperson of the Fleadh Executive Committee.

“We will cover all aspects – from accommodation to volunteering, all the events we are hosting in the town; we will have information about street closures; about the campsite; we will have information about the whole running of Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann and we are encouraging all people to come along and ask questions.

“Basically, we want to get the whole town and county involved – it’s for them,” says Joe.

“That’s why we want people to come along on Saturday and find out all that is happening. All are welcome – bígí linn!

Places to rent will be added to a register run by the fleadh committee: “It’s pretty simple – either call 044 93 38954 or go on to the website www.fleadhcheoil.ie and register there,” says Joe.
