The end of March marks another year for Apache Pizza owner Niall Murray to celebrate his birthday. His family, friends and extended Apache family wish to thank him for his continued support, friendship and reassurance during this unprecedented time.

It’s at time like this that people crave certainty, and the pillars of their community. One such pillar is Apache Pizza, Mullingar, which has operated on Blackhall Street, Mullingar for the last 15 years.

Opened in 2005 as what was then the 20th Apache outlet, the Mullingar franchise, run by Niall Murray and his family, was the first to operate in the midlands and one of very few outside of Dublin.

Since then, the business has expanded rapidly to comprise 165 outlets nationwide, and it joined forces with Spanish pizza giant Telepizza in 2018.

When the Telepizza acquisition happened, Brexit was the major obstacle on the horizon, and Niall said that the merger gave Apache “the back-up of a multi-national company in terms of buying power and continuity of supply”.

Just shy of two years later, Brexit is a mere memory, as a totally different and unexpected challenge has emerged: the outbreak, across the world, of the Covid-19 coronavirus.

And here’s where certainty comes into play. Despite facing into what may yet prove to be one of the most difficult periods in the history of the state, economically and socially, Apache Pizza, Mullingar is pressing on with providing the local community with top quality food.

Already, Niall, his wife Clare, their sons Eoghan and Arann alongside manager Ernesta Slionyte and Apache’s 30-strong staff have been busy preparing and supplying food and refreshments for healthcare staff and paramedics in Mullingar as they work tirelessly on the frontline of battle against Covid-19.

Niall, who had serious battles against ill-health in 2018 (with prostate cancer, and later that year suffering a stroke), has never forgotten what both the ambulance and hospital staff did for him.

He spent 20 weeks in the National Rehabilitation Hospital, Dun Laoghaire, and has experienced first-hand the hard work which the health workers of Ireland do – and now, at this critical juncture, Apache is redoubling its efforts to support our healthcare heroes.

That applies to the general public as well, and all of Apache, Mullingar’s loyal customers who have helped the franchise go from strength to strength since 2005.

Apache will continue to look after its customers in the Mullingar area through a zero-driver-contact delivery service. On the days when you want to take a break from cooking or haven’t got to the shop for all you need, Apache will get the finest food from its diverse menu straight to your door.

Apache Mullingar is managed by Eoghan alongside Ernesta, who with Niall’s expertise and guidance have continued the hard work which Niall has put into building up the franchise over the last 15 years.

Arann, Niall’s other son, based in Germany, is also helping the Mullingar outlet from the technological side.

Niall and his staff would like to thank their customers for their loyalty over the years. As An Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar said last week, when times are tough, it’s important that we’re at our best.

So if it’s excellent service or a quick supper delivered to your door, Apache Mullingar are happy to take care of you, just as you have supported them over the years. Call 044 9333815 today or log on to www.apache.ie to leave an order.

Though times are tough, we will work together to bounce back like other small local businesses, from SJF Productions to Lilliput Adventure Centre. It’s important we support and back one another to see a positive end to 2020.
