Amy makes finals of Miss Swimsuit UK

Amy Clyne from Mullingar was in Manchester over the weekend of Saturday March 7 competing in Miss Swimsuit UK, where she finished in fourth place and is now through to the finals, scheduled for September 12 next, again in Manchester.

There are three heats in total and the top eight from each heat go through to the finals. The overall winner of MSUK gets an all expenses paid trip to compete in the international finals of Swimsuit USA, worth $10,000.

Amy told the Westmeath Examiner a bit about the competition, starting with how the organisers describe the event.

‘Miss Swimsuit UK (MSUK) is an incredible platform to further your modelling career, or get it started.

‘It is a modern day pageant that is leading the way with equality and positive vibes.

‘We want to find women that are beautiful inside and out. It’s a journey of self growth and confidence with the support of each other. We don’t do divas or drama – just good fun!’

Asked for her experiences in the competition in her own words, Amy said:

“Entering a competition like this is so much fun. All the girls are so lovely and I have definitely made friends for life.

“Verena Twigg, the organiser, is like a mother to us all! She’s known as ‘Mamma V’.

“It really is like a big family. It doesn’t even feel like we are in competition with each other.

“It’s all about empowering women and supporting each other.

“It’s such a great way to meet new people and build your confidence.

“It takes a lot to put yourself out there!

“But this competition is an amazing platform to promote yourself further in the modelling world, especially with social media!”

Amy pointed out that there is considerable expense involved in entering a competition like Miss Swimsuit UK.

There was a £300 fee to enter her heat and another £300 fee for the final, and she needs a number of outfits.

Offering the opportunity of a commercial arrangement that would benefit both sides, she said: “If any brands or businesses would like to sponsor me, get in touch!”

Amy currently has around 2,500 followers on Instagram, and the number is growing as every day she posts photos from the competition and other photoshoots. “The goal would be to get to 10,000 [followers],” said Amy.

“In return for sponsorship, I would be promoting your business in social media, tagging and mentioning you on my insta, and as well as that, my posts are shared by Miss Swimsuit UK, who have 17.7k followers.”
