Ballymore girl celebrates 12th birthday with a "drive by" party

It may not have been the celebration that she'd have wanted but Ava Cuffe from Ballymore certainly won't forget her 12th birthday last Friday.

Like the vast majority of us, Ava and her family are adhering to the social distancing guidelines so a normal birthday party was out of the question. However, her loved ones marked her birthday with a “drive-by”, courtesy of her aunt Tracey who came up with the idea.

Speaking to the Westmeath Examiner, Ava's mum Noeleen said that her daughter had been disappointed at not being able to celebrate her birthday in the traditional way, but her mood lifted when she saw the cars coming down their lane, only hours before Taoiseach Leo Varadkar introduced tighter restrictions to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

Happy belated birthday Ava and you will be able to make up for it with an even bigger party in 2021!
