24 patients on trolleys at Mullingar today

There are 24 patients on trolleys at the Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar today.

According to Trolley Watch, the survey carried out daily by the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation, all 24 patients are in the Emergency Department.

The number for Mullingar is one of the highest recorded today.

The highest number of patients on trolleys today is 30, at Cork University Hospital.

The number for University Hospital Limerick is 26, and Mullingar is next on 24, making it the third highest.

Nationally, the number of patients on trolleys today is 192, 172 in Emergency Departments and 20 on other wards.

The number of those patients under the age of 16 is two.
