There are nine patients on trolleys at the Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar today.

The Trolley Watch survey carried out daily by the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation has found that all nine patients are in the Emergency Department.

There are no patients on trolleys at the Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore today.

The Mullingar figure is the fourth highest today.

The highest figure is 34, at University Hospital Limerick.

There are 28 patients on trolleys at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, and 18 at Cork University Hospital.

The national total in today's Trolley Watch is 166; of those patients, 139 are in Emergency Departments. None are younger than 16.
