There are 13 patients on trolleys at the Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar today.

The figure comes from the daily Trolley Watch survey conducted by the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.

All 13 patients are in the Emergency Department (ED).

The equivalent number for the Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore is two.

The Mullingar hospital number is the fifth highest today.

The highest number is 47 at University Hospital Limerick, 33 of whom are on the ED.

At Cork University Hospital there are 26 patients on trolleys, all in the ED.

The number at University Hospital Kerry and at Sligo University Hospital is 15.
