Dominik’s boss aiming to reopen soon after fire

The boss of a Mullingar restaurant has vowed this week to open up as quickly as possible after a fire caused damage to the kitchen over the weekend.

Jan Gablech, proprietor of Dominik’s restaurant on Dominick Street, received a call from a neighbour in the early hours of the morning to give him the devastating news that there a fire had broken out on the premises.

But Jan has said he hopes that within 10 days or so, he will be able to welcome customers back in.

“The fire was in the kitchen area,” he said, adding that it appeared to have started with a freezer.

It was a disappointing blow for Jan and his team of nine, but he and the staff aim not to leave their customers waiting too long, and they are already working to re-open.
