Free mattress recycling in Mullingar and Athlone

Westmeath County Council is holding a mattress amnesty over the next two Saturdays.

Each household can recycle three old mattresses for free. The first amnesty is taking place this Saturday, August 15, at the Athlone Recycling Centre, Golden Island from 10am to 3pm. The following Saturday, August 22, people in the north of the county will be able to get rid of their old mattresses at the Mullingar Recycling Centre, Mullingar Business Park from 10am to 3pm.

The centres will only accept mattresses that are clean and dry. Charges will apply for additional mattresses, €10 for a single and €18 for a double.

Members of the public are advised to make sure that the mattresses are properly secured before transportation.
