Council members support Make Way Day

Supporting 'Make Way Day', which is due to take place this Friday September 25, are elected members of Westmeath County Council.

The socially distanced photo was taken today at the September Monthly Meeting of Westmeath County Council held in Áras an Chontae, Mullingar, today, Monday September 21.

Take pictures of the obstacles you encounter (parked cars on footpaths, bikes chained to railings, sandwich boards and overhanging branches) and post your pictures to social media. Include #MakeWayDay20 and tag @makewayday @disabilityfed in your post.

Make Way Day is a campaign that brings the disability and wider community together to consider the needs of people with disabilities in the public spaces we all share.

It is led by the Disability Federation of Ireland and is a unique collaboration across Ireland and the voluntary and local government sectors.

Members of the public can show your support by taking pictures of the obstacles you encounter, including cars parked on footpaths, bikes chained to railings, sandwich boards and overhanging branches, and posting those pictures to social media. Include #MakeWayDay20 and tag @makewayday @disabilityfed in your post.

You can also contact your local Councillors asking them to support Make Way Day 2020, and others who might be interested in getting involved and form a local working group.
