Blizzards video will have exclusive audience reveal during the IFTAs

The Irish Film and Television Academy is delighted to announce that the Irish band The Blizzards will exclusively reveal their new single and video for One Good Thing, as part of the 2020 Virtual IFTA Awards.

The IFTAs will be broadcast on Virgin Media One at 10pm on Sunday October 18.

One of the most influential and renowned Hollywood directors, Martin Scorsese, will present Best Irish Film.

He will be joined on the Awards Show by a host of guest presenters that include Pierce Brosnan, Liam Neeson, Ruth Negga, Ciatriona Balfe, Chris O’Dowd, Star Wars leading lady Daisy Ridley, Normal People’s young Stars, Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar Jones and the fun-loving Derry Girls among many others, who will be taking part in the Virtual Awards.

As part of this unique TV experience, The Blizzard’s single One Good Thing, directed by IFTA award winner Terry McMahon will be aired.

Speaking about the inclusion in the IFTA awards ceremony, Bressie said:

“Our industry has never known a time like it. So much is out of our control, but the one thing we do still control is our creative output. And we’ve always wanted to work with Terry.

"He has a unique ability to remove you from your comfort zone. We are really humbled that the One Good Thing video and song resonated with IFTA, and they have given us the opportunity to show it on such a prestigious platform”.

Speaking about his involvement in the video, IFTA award winner Terry McMahon added:

“When public gatherings are banned, dissent is censored, and music, art, and culture are choked into acquiescent silence, then perhaps the most subversive act of rebellion is to reach out and do one good thing for another human being.”

Hosted by Deirdre O’Kane, Sunday night’s IFTA Awards will be a star-studded affair with high-profile international guest presenters taking the time to participate and say hello to Ireland and to present a key award on the night.
