Loreto students qualify as Safer Internet Ambassadors

Loreto College students Gemma McCaughey and Emma Callaghan have received their Safer Internet Ambassador certificates today.

Both students were trained as Safer Internet Ambassadors, and their school community are passing on their congratulations.

The Webwise Safer Internet Day Ambassador Programme is a peer-to-peer youth training programme that gives students an opportunity to lead an online safety campaign in their own school or community.

As Safer Internet Day Ambassador, students receive free training from Webwise and from the dedicated Youth Panel.

Students learn how to lead internet safety activities and campaigns which can then be run in school for Safer Internet Day.

Safer Internet Day is an EU wide initiative to promote a safer Internet for all users, especially young people.

It is promoted in Ireland by the PDST Technology in Education in Education and Webwise.

Webwise offer free information, advice and resources to help parents, teachers and students address internet safety issues (www.webwise.ie).
