Eir's customer service 'a joke' says local TD

Eir's customer service is “an absolute joke” and an “embarrassment”, according to a local TD.

Speaking at the October meeting of Westmeath County Council on Monday where he gave a presentation outlining his ministerial duties, Minister of State Troy said the telecoms provider is “extraordinarily difficult to deal with on simple issues”.

Cllr Aengus O'Rourke said that the firm's customer service “leaves a lot to be desired” and that he knows of a number of businesses that have been left “utterly stranded” by Eir's

"lack of technical and customer service across all platforms”. He asked his party colleague Deputy Troy if he could raise the issue of Eir's poor customer service in Leinster House.

Deputy Troy said that the Commission for Communications Regulation (Com Reg) has to do more to get Eir to improve its customer service.

“Eir's customer service is an absolute joke, an absolute joke. To see people who are living on their own, their lines go down and they have no way in getting in contact with them. They really are an embarrassment. I have highlighted their poor customer service to Com Reg and have encouraged the relevant committee in the Dail to bring Com Reg before them to ask what are they doing to ensure that Eir enhance their customer service.”
