Met Éireann: wind and rainfall warnings for the West

Met Éireann have issued two weather warnings. The first is a yellow rainfall warning for Galway and Mayo valid for from 9pm tonight until 9am Saturday morning.

The second is a yellow wind warning for counties Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Clare and Kerry valid from 10pm tonight until tomorrow morning.

Elsewhere today it will be dry with sunny spells and just the odd shower. However later today southerly winds will begin to strengthen.

Tonight will become very wet and windy, especially across southern counties.

Some localised flooding is possible with high winds generated by strong to gale force south to southwest winds.

Lowest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees Celsius.

Saturday morning will see some autumn sunshine break through, but scattered blustery showers will develop too.

South to southwest winds will be mostly fresh to strong.
