A weekend sports feast for the armchair fans

With the GAA championships getting underway this weekend, there is a big TV feast in store for armchair supporters.

It all gets underway on Sky Sports Mix at 12.15 p.m on Saturday for the Ulster SFC clash between Monaghan and Cavan.

It is followed at 2.45 p.m. by the Munster SHC meeting of Cork and Waterford.

After that, you can switch over to RTÉ2 for the Leinster SHC game between Galway and Wexford at 6.15 p.m.

However, at that point, many sports fans will find it very hard to ignore the Six Nations showdown between France and Ireland from 6 p.m. on Virgin One.

The channel is screening the final three matches in the rugby series from 1.30 p.m.

Saturday also sees strong Premier League attractions with Sheffield United v Manchester City on BT Sports 1 from 12.30 p.m. with Sky Sports One beaming the meeting of Liverpool and West Ham at 5.30 p.m.

Sunday's live GAA coverage begins from 1.15 p.m. in the unusual surroundings of RTÉ News Now where Mayo will be in action in the first round of the Connacht SFC against Leitrim from Carrick-on-Shannon.

It clashes with arguably the most fascinating Gaelic football games of the weekend - the Ulster SFC confrontation between Donegal and Tyrone on RTÉ2 from 1 p.m.

When that's over the station is then showing the Munster SHC encounter between Limerick and Tipperary from 4 p.m.

If that's not enough of GAA action for one weekend, then all the highlights and talking points will be featured on The Sunday Game on RTÉ2 at 9.30 p.m.

Enjoy.
