‘Meenagh Miracle’ sets Irish Cesarewitch semi-final alight

The final of the Irish Cesarewitch Open 600 and the two semi-finals of the Mullingar Fair Warrior Open 400 2020 was the feature events at Saturday October 24 meeting at Mullingar.

Meenagh Miracle did the business in the final for his Coalisland owner Michael Corr. From a fast exit she made all the running to win by four lengths from Amazing Alice and set a new track record in 32.75.

In the first semi-final of the Mullingar Fair Warrior Open 400, from a level Olympic Dollar forged to the lead rounding the first bend and made all the running to win by a length and a half from Galtee Extra in 21.50 for Kildare joint owners Tony and Mrs Lorraine Howard and trainer Beatrice Steiner.

The best return in the sweepstake was posted in the second semi-final by Fiftycashback, which is trained by Fraser Black for Limerick owner Denis J. Crowley. Having been led to the bend by Toolmaker Paddy, he took control into the home straight to win by three and a half lengths from the early leader in 21.13.

In the 330 yds first race Ballyheashill Rio broke in front and led to the second bend when running wide, which allowed Lady Vickie slip through to take the lead and win by half a length in 19.05. The winner was recording her first victory for her Offaly owner Kenneth Connell.

Hear It Babe opened her winning account in the 525 yds second race on her debut outing for her Offaly owner Bernard Joseph Walsh. Having been led in the early stages by Knockmant Angie, she took control in the home straight to win by two lengths in 30.02.

Motor Bar Fun did the business in the 525 yds third race for his Meath owner Pat Lynch. From a level break he took the lead and powered home seven lengths clear of Springwell Zoey in a career best 29.62.

From a level break in the 525 yds fourth race Darray Girl took control rounding the first bend, and made all the running to win by a length and a half from the chasing Martinstown Zip in 29.80 for her Roscommon owner John Glancy.

In a closely contested 600 yds fifth race, Rickshaw Lady broke in front and led to the top bend when running wide, which allowed Correctandwrong to take control and scored by four and a half lengths from dead heaters Crokers King and Springwell Telly in 33.42. The winner is trained by Paul Cronin for the Pool-Room-Syndicate (Edenderry).

Well Informed did the business for the Glafo-Syndicate c/o B. Sheehy, Offaly in the 330 yds seventh race. After breaking in front she made all the running to win by seven lengths from Catunda Jax in 18.33 and opened her winning account.

Getaway Kid and Camas Special broke in front in the 400 yds eleventh race and disputed the lead into the home straight, where Getaway Kid found an extra gear to win by six and a half lengths in 21.61 for the Mugs-Galore-Syndicate c/o J. Fallon, Longford.

The concluding twelfth race over the 550 yds was won in fine style by Pagestown Jack, which is owned by Tim Hanafin, Co. Meath. After breaking in front, he held pole position all the way to win by five and a half lengths from Wee Pickle Jet in 30.70.

The Sunday (October 25) programme at Mullingar featured twelve graded races ranging from ONO to (A1-A2) on a cold damp blustery evening.

David Hanlon supplied the winner of the 525 yds first race with Kilbride Maverick, which he trains for Frank Seery. After breaking in front, he made all the running to win by eleven and a half lengths from Lingo Magic in 29.46 on his debut outing.

The 525 yds second race resulted in a dead-heat between Home Buddy which is owned by Marcella Campbell, Laois and Money Monster, which is trained by Beatrice Steiner for Cavan owner Ms. Natalie Abedi. Money Monster broke in front and led into the home straight where Home Buddy came at the line to force a dead-heat in 29.88.

Lyneen Whisper, which is owned by Miss Emer Tyrrell, Longford, repeated his success of last week in the 525 yds third race. After breaking in front he made all the running to win by six and a half lengths from Abbeyville Ise in 29.45.

Mrs Marcella Campbell, Laois completed a double in the fourth race with Home Heidi. Having been led in the early stages by Fahy Panda and Oakfront Warrior, she took control in the back straight and powered home six lengths clear of Wishful Vickey in 29.72.

Lazy Carthage broke in front in the 525 yds fifth race, and held pole position all the way to resist the late challenge of Sober Style by a length and a half in 29.45. This 9/2 winner is owned by Paul Gavagan, Westmeath.

The Cleary kennels of Offaly recorded the first leg of a double in the 525 yds sixth race with Lahinch Flash, which is owned by Master Billy Cleary. Having been led into the home straight by Father Henry, she took control and had a half a length to spare at the line in 29.75.

There was a welcome winner for Laois owner in the 525 yds seventh race with Doonane’s Houdini. Having been out of the winner’s enclosure since September, he made no mistake on the evening when he popped out in front and made all the running to win by three and a half lengths from Sams Belle in 29.64.

In the 525 yds eight race, Knockmant Belle took the lead in the early stages and made all the running to win by a length and a half from the well supported Revilo Lass in 29.59 for her Westmeath owner Oliver Colgan.

Clonfert Jack came into the ninth race from the reserve panel, took the lead at the first bend and made every yard of the running to hold off the challenge of Kementari by a length and a half in 29.05 for his Kildare owner John Young.

Madabout Polly broke in front in the 525 yds tenth race and made practically all the running, but she was not able to deal with the late surge of Wonap Alela, which came in the last few strides to win by three lengths in 29.69 for Meath owner Peter M. Kenny and trainer David McKenna.

The Cleary kennels completed the double in the 525 yds eleventh race with Lahinch Breakout. From a fast exit she made every yard of the running to win by four lengths from Lingrawn Roxy in 29.24.

In the concluding twelfth race over the 525 yds, Killeshil Queen broke in front and led to the last bend, where Horseleap Gris took control into the home straight to win by a length and a half from Anotherfootstop in 29.90. This 5/2 winner was recording his second success from ten starts for Sean McGuinness, Offaly.
