Midland hospitals busy again today with 32 on trolleys

There are 17 people waiting on trolleys in the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar today, Tuesday November 17, and 15 patients in Tullamore.

There are none in Portlaoise.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO), who are responsible for compiling the figures say that nationally, say 217 admitted patients are waiting for beds in hospitals across the country.

A total of 189 of those are waiting in the emergency department, while 28 are in wards elsewhere in the hospital. Three are under the age of 16.

Limerick University Hospital has the highest number of patients on trolleys, with 61 patients waiting on a bed.
