County has third highest number of new cases in this evening's figures

Westmeath had the third highest number of new COVID-19 cases in the country reported on Sunday.

There were 30 new cases in the county, behind only Dublin at 262 and Kildare at 32.

Nationally, there were 539 new cases, taking the total to 235,078.

There was one death reported, meaning that there have been 4,667 COVID-19 related deaths in Ireland.

There were less than five new cases reported in Roscommon (where the number is less than five, the Department of Health does not give a specific figure for what it says are confidentiality reasons).

Of the 539 cases notified today 73% are under 45 years of age and the median age is 32 years old

As of 8am today, 331 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised, of whom 70 are in ICU. 19 additional hospitalisations in the last 24 hours.

As of March 26, 786,569 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Ireland:

567,023 people have received their first dose and 219,546 people have received their second dose.
