Milder midweek but turning cold again on Thursday

Many witnessed a shower of snow this morning, Tuesday April 6, and it's set to remain cold and breezy throughout the rest of the day.

Highest temperatures this afternoon will reach no higher than 5 to 8 degrees, with an added wind chill factor.

Tonight will be dry for most but scattered outbreaks of light rain. Clear spells at times will allow temperatures to fall to between -3 and +1 degrees.

There is a brief respite due however, as it's set to turn slightly milder midweek,but with a return to colder weather from Thursday night.

Wednesday, will become less cold as winds back westerly. A generally cloudy day overall with patchy outbreaks of light rain and drizzle.

Thursday will be mostly cloudy but staying largely dry, with highs of 8 to 10 degrees in moderate southwest winds, strong on western and northern coasts. A narrow band of heavier rain will move into the northwest through the late afternoon and evening. T

Friday and Saturday will be cool with sunny spells, and heavy showers turning wintry. However light winds will mean it feels pleasant in sunshine. Very cold nights over the weekend with widespread sharp frosts.
