Westmeath libraries reopening "for browsing and borrowing" next week

Westmeath County Council has confirmed that the county's libraries will reopen "for browsing and borrowing" from Monday next, May 10.

However the local authority said the ongoing public health restrictions meant seating and study facilities would not be in use, and people are asked to keep their visits brief for the moment.

The wearing of face coverings and observance of social distancing in the libraries is requested, while the public PCs will be unavailable at this time.

"We encourage everyone to use our self-service kiosks to issue and return items," said the council.

"You can download the free Westmeath Libraries App which will allows you to search the catalogue and checkout your own books using your phone."

Athlone, Mullingar, Moate, Castlepollard and Kilbeggan libraries will open with late night service on Thursdays.

The library opening hours in Athlone, Mulligar and Moate from next week. Castlepollard and Kilbeggan libraries are also reopening.

"To ensure that everyone has a safe and enjoyable visit to the library, please do not visit the library or return items if anyone in your household is exhibiting signs of COVID-19. Please use our online services which will remain available 24/7 at www.westmeathcoco.ie/LibOnline"
