€6.5m Lotto ticket bought in Athlone

The National Lottery has confirmed that the winning €6,489,165 Lotto jackpot ticket from Saturday night’s draw was sold in Athlone. The Westmeath player became the third Lotto jackpot winner of 2021 after purchasing their Quick Pick ticket on Thursday, May 20.

Saturday night’s Lotto draw also saw a second Lotto millionaire being made after a player in Castlebar scooped the top prize of €1,000,000 in the Lotto Plus 1 draw. The winning Quick Pick ticket was purchased on Friday 21st May.

The National Lottery has also stated that it is still waiting to hear from both of the new Lotto millionaires. Both of the winning stores will be revealed on Tuesday morning.

The National Lottery are continuing to urge players in the Athlone and Castlebar areas to check their tickets carefully as one lucky Westmeath player has a ticket worth €6.4 million while another in Mayo has a ticket worth €1 million. Both winners should sign the back of their tickets and keep them in safe places. The winners can contact the prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie and arrangements will be made for both winners to collect their prizes.

Nearly 30 cent in every €1 spent on all National Lottery games goes back to Good Causes in the areas of sport, youth, health, welfare, education, arts, heritage, and the Irish Language. In total more than €6 Billion has been raised for Good Causes since the National Lottery was established 34 years ago. In 2020 alone, €254 million was raised for local Good Causes in communities across Ireland.
