Leader leads way with website

BMB Active was the beneficiary of a Rural Development LEADER Programme grant approval via Westmeath Community Development in 2019. A special acknowledgment must go to Theresa Geoghegan, community development worker in the Rural Development Programme, for her diligence and assistance, to Orla Duncan at Cookieweb, and the BMB ARA committee members who ensured the realisation of the project.

This website, bmbactive.ie, will provide a platform for members and the wider community to engage and learn, fulfilling the BMB Active mission. The ongoing activities of the group will feature, with information and support, providing more and more opportunities for developing new skills, creativity, and friendships.

As pandemic restrictions ease, the website will act as a portal for sharing information about day tours, holiday excursions, tea parties, luncheons, and cultural events.

The website will encourage and support members to access the internet and to develop an online presence. This has been particularly important during the restrictions imposed by Covid 19. This project has been enabled by the LEADER Programme, so thank you to all concerned.

Every time a child is born, so are grandparents

There is nothing more exciting than new life. This week two BMB ARA committee members became grandparents for the first time. Congratulations to Mary Frances Cox on the arrival of Tabitha to parents Dennis and Fionnuala, and to Joe and Sheila Scally on the arrival of Isabelle to Aisling and Eamonn. Health and happiness to these families at this special time.

Pickleball

Weather permitting, pickleball enthusiasts enjoy the return of the opportunity to play outside in Lir village every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10.30am, and Thursday at 7pm. Beginners are welcome so go along and join in, enjoy the convivial atmosphere and get ever so slightly fitter! Please send a text to Marian on 0871723256 to indicate that you are available.

BMB Active plan to restart activities such as Go For Life, hopefully outdoors in Gaine Park, Multyfarnham in the new enclosure. The May weather has been unseasonably wet and cool, but as it warms up, it will be more conducive to outdoor activities.

Joan Keena typically hosts a tea party on the Sunday of the June bank holiday (June 6), and plans are under way to explore how this can happen given current restrictions. Watch this space for more updates.
