Your Mullingar Rocks are wanted for Town Park permanent display

Do you have any Mullingar Rocks from the first lockdown of the pandemic at your home? If so, they are wanted for a new permanent feature in the Town Park.

Hundreds of local children where bitten by the Mullingar Rocks buzz during the first lockdown last year. Wherever you walked in Mullingar last May and June you were never too far away from a brightly painted rock, which helped raise people's spirits during those uncertain early days of the pandemic.

One of the organisers of Mullingar Rocks, Sinead Mahon got in touch with the Westmeath Examiner this week with this message:

Do you remember in May/June of 2020 when we were all painting rocks, going for long walks and spreading joy, memories and nice messages with plenty of artwork? Everyone enjoyed the fun during the pandemic madness and it was fantastic to see kids running around trying to find the painted rocks.

You may also remember that it was agreed by Westmeath County County that these rocks could then be displayed as a permanent feature in Mullingar Town Park and this is where I need your help! We need to get an idea of how many rocks there are so that the council can plan the space accordingly.

If you have some rocks, in your porch, in your shop window, wherever,  that you would like on display in Mullingar Town Park, please advise approximately how many you have - message on facebook or email sineadma@gmail.com

If you would like me to collect your rocks please let me know and i can varnish them in advance.

If you would like to paint some new ones let me know and i can collect them from you to be varnished. This would be a great task for schools/classrooms to do considering the year that we've had!

Most importantly please spread the word, share on social media, in your school wherever  you see fit as we need to collate the numbers for planning purposes and we don't want anyone left out.
