Clean-up at diving boards for Ireland's Big Weigh In challenge

Cllr Hazel Smyth is organising a litter-pick at the diving boards at Lough Owel this Saturday, July 31.

With the support of a friend, and as part of As part of the Ireland's Big Weigh In challenge and representing Westmeath, the Westmeath councillor is asking others to "come along yourself or bring the kids, dogs or a friend!".

Flossie and the Beach Cleaners are looking for representatives from all counties to sign up, and Cllr Smyth has taken it on for this area.

The clean-up starts at 3pm and Cllr Smyth said equipment will be provided.

"Our lake belongs to all of us, let's keep it clean and beautiful for ourselves, and each other," she added.
