Bressie wants reopening plan

Bressie has called on the government to provide a re-opening plan for the live music and entertainment sector.

The Mullingar native has released a video online of him delivering a poetic speech about the live music industry during Covid-19.

In the video he captioned "These walls weren’t built for silence", Bressie speaks of how the industry needs to be let reopen soon.

Sitting on a high stool on the Olympia Theatre stage, Bressie delivers the speech as images of concerts, festivals and packed stadiums fill the screen.

The main message he has been highlighting is that the industry cannot survive without "you", the audience.

"In the absence of your presence, this place survived on legacies and memories. For what was born in this room was an undying energy…These walls weren’t built for a silent symphony…"

The industry has been shut for the majority of the pandemic, with only outdoor gigs now allowed.

While Bressie and his band, The Blizzards, are delighted to have the ability to gig outdoors in the coming months, he is urging the government to give the industry a full reopening plan.

"When will it be? When will we see the stage alive with the dynamic alliance of imagination, craft and creative science, our industry back; collective and defiant? Yet we still rely on one thing: you."
