Hospital issues second plea to public to stay away

A second appeal has been issued by Mullingar hospital asking patients to try and stay away.

The Emergency Department continues to be extremely busy with attendances this afternoon – and as a result the hospital teams are working to manage the current in-patient and Covid-19 bed capacity.

“If you do come to ED and are not triaged as seriously ill, you may need to wait for a long period to be seen,” the hospital is warning, before going on to point out that patients who require urgent care will be prioritised.

“We would ask patients to consider their options before attending the Emergency Department,” the plea continues.

Staff are also asking those who must attend to do so alone where possible.
