Mullingar Half Marathon returns to roads for 2021

After a challenging year in 2020, the Aon Mullingar Half Marathon went virtual, and while that was a successful event, the organisers have now confirmed that race will be live on the streets on Saturday, September 25 next.

The recent government announcement gave great hope to the country but especially to the organisers to increase the number of runners at this year’s event, said Mullingar Half Marathon secretary, Nuala-Anne Curley.

Registration is now open for another wave of entrants.

“Last week, we opened 100 entries, which sold out in one day, so the organisers expect the remaining 400 to sell out quickly,” said Ms Curley.

“We have had huge interest in the race, especially as it will be one of the first half marathons to go live, after restrictions are lifted further this month. Registration is open at www.mullingarhalfmarathon.com, a new website developed by Upfront Digital.

Ms Curley said: “It will remain open until the 400 entries sell out. Race start time is 9am this year. There will be a number of Covid guidelines in place to ensure the safety of our volunteers and runners on the day of the event.

“Keep an eye on the website and social media for more details. We are excited to welcome everyone to Mullingar on September 25.”

All funds raised go to the race charity partner, TEAM, and the organisers thanked title sponsor Aon for their continued support, car partner Colton Motors and ORS Hydration Tablets, official hydration partner for 2021.

“Best of luck to all our runners,” said Ms Curley.
