Moate writer published in literary journal

A short story by Iarlaith Cunningham is published in the latest issue of Paper Lanterns, a literary journal featuring creative writing, essays and art from young people.

Iarlaith, from Moate, is a final year English student at NUIG who publishes an online journal – Neuro Logical.

He enjoys writing short stories and poetry and his submission to Paper Lanterns is ‘Fireworks’, set in Armagh during the Troubles.

Iarlaith read his story at the journal’s online launch via YouTube Premiere on the Paper Lanterns channel. The launch included videos from contributors in Ireland and around the world.

This issue of Paper Lanterns is available from Just Books in Mullingar, and online at paperlanternslit.com.

Founded in 2020, Paper Lanterns features work for and by teens and young adults and is sponsored by the Arts Council.

It is published four times a year and it also makes space for those who were once young adults to submit their work.
