WATCH: Scone-making morning at 1428 Active Retirement Club

The 1428 Active Retirement Clubis open 10am-3pm Monday to Thursday, when members can meet for coffee and a chat in small numbers (appointment basis only); to attend call the club at 04493 84290 to arrange a time.

They have fun bingo for small numbers. Fridays are drop-in mornings. Members adhere to all guidelines and protocols.

Go for Life for members, Wednesdays at 10am.

On Wednesday, the cookery course, ‘Basic Skills for Healthy Eating’, for members is at 11am. There was a great turnout last week, when many Barn Bracks were made. This morning it was scones (see video above).

Gaeilge conversation is on Wednesdays at 1pm.

The club provide essential services support, queries, alarm applications; if you need assistance, call the club on 04493 84290.

Mondays, Al Anon at 7.30pm; Tuesdays GROW at 8pm; Thursdays, Narcotics Anon, and all meetings are held at The 1428 Club.

SAS Monitored Alarms are available free to anyone over 65, and the first year’s monitoring is also free (there is a fee for sim card service in GSM models only). Simple application and installation time is less than two weeks. Call the club on 04493 84290 to find out more.

Beware of Scam Calls

Many members have reported scam calls. If you receive one, hang up as soon as soon as possible. Do not press 1 if asked to do so. Never give personal details over the phone. You may get a call from a 083; 086; 087 or 089 number, so beware. The Dept of Social Protection; An Garda Síochána; HSE or banks will not call you and ask for personal details.
