Mullingar-based artist to feature on RTÉ

After ten years living on “the quiet side” of Achill Island, and winning considerable acclaim for his stunning paintings of the Achill landscape, artist Padraig McCaul and his family have moved to Mullingar, where he has opened a new studio.

This weekend, Padraig is holding a two-day exhibition of his work at The Mullingar Park Hotel – but as it happens, in advance of that Padraig’s Achill life features this evening – Wednesday November 24 – on RTÉ’s Nationwide.

Recorded on Achill Island in June with Anne Cassin, it includes an interview with Padraig in his Achill studio and working environment as well showing him at work in the studio and in the Achill landscape.

The programme will be available to view on the RTÉ Player.

Padraig and his wife Anne and their three children are happy to have moved to Mullingar – or “back to Mullingar” in Anne’s case.

“We decided it was time to come back a bit closer to relations and family and friends this side of the country,” says Padraig, explaining that Anne is daughter of the late well-known Mullingar solicitor Tom Shaw and his wife Yvonne.

Padraig’s exhibition runs at The Mullingar Park Hotel on December 4 and 5 from 11am to 6pm each day, and all are welcome along.
