Milltownpass Christmas tree lights switch on this weekend

All roads lead to Miltownpass on Saturday evening for the switching on of the lights on the village's first Christmas tree.

To mark the occasion, the local choir will be singing Christmas carols, while children from the local national school have been busy making decorations to put on the tree.

Milltownpass Tidy Towns committee set up a GoFundMe page with a target of €1,000 to raise funds for the tree and lights. To date over €1,300 has been raised.

Thanking people for their generosity, a spokesperson for the committee says that there has been an "incredible response from the community".

The event will start at 5.30pm on Saturday evening.
