Rochforts Superstore sells €1m winning Lottery ticket!
“This is our third Lottery win for more than €1m,” Tomás Nally confirmed at his family business, Rochforts Superstore on Dominick Street, Mullingar, today Monday.
Tomás and his father, Tommy Nally, were speaking as the National Lottery official photographer was present to confirm the location of the shop that sold the ticket that won €1,007,815 in Saturday night’s Lotto draw.
Tomás said: “It’s brilliant to have somebody so close to Christmas get a present like this. It will lift the whole community – everybody’s texting and ringing and saying how brilliant it is, and hoping it’s somebody local, and we’re hoping the same!”
“We’re 51 years in business and it’s our third winner over a million – hopefully it’s somebody local.
“We’ve also a path worn up to Winning Streak. We’ve been there seven or eight times. So we’re bound to be one of the luckiest shops in the country, and definitely in the midlands.”
Tommy added: “It’s great to have a bit of good news for a change – there’s a lot of the rest at the moment, unfortunately, but this is great news.”
The weekend’s Lotto draw marked a bumper night of prizes and more than 212,000 players won across the Lotto and Lotto Plus draws, including players in Westmeath and Dublin who became the biggest winners of the night.
As no additional funds were added to the capped Lotto jackpot, the funds that would usually go to the jackpot were instead distributed to the next prize tier at which there was a winner and in Saturday night’s draw, this was the Match 5+Bonus category.
A Westmeath player enjoyed a boosted prize of €1,007,815 after matching five numbers and the bonus in Saturday night’s Lotto draw.
The winning numbers for Saturday night’s (18 December) Lotto draw were: 05, 08, 12, 13, 25, 26 and the bonus was 09.
The two winners are advised to sign the back of their winning tickets and keep them safe.
