Cllr Aoife Davitt

New Year Q&A - Aoife Davitt, Mayor of MKMD

1. What are your stand-out memories from 2021?

Chairing my first meeting in the council chamber as mayor was a huge honour, having the support of my family, friends, colleagues and work place made it a highlight.

We got a Springer Spaniel (Milo) in May so there has been lots of fun days since… Heading down to the lake for a swim and making the most of all the beautiful amenities that we have.

2. Are there any changes in our ‘new normal’ that you feel are worth keeping?

At work, I would say being conscious about using less paper and the move towards paperless meetings and environments; another one was the use of hybrid meetings. Roll on broadband!

3. Best film or TV series you saw in 2021 – and why?

I love to bake so it would have to be Masterchef Australia, I can’t get enough of it I was smitten from the start. The food, the culture, the contestants, their customs, the stories behind the dishes and ingredients.

4. Where did you holiday in 2021 – and why did you choose there?

We visited family in Wicklow, my son loves it there. A dip in the sea, amusements, football and more football… What else would you need? Just taking the time out to spend with family or friends is the tonic needed.

5. What hopes do you have for 2022?

I hope that we can all navigate the year with health and happiness. My wish would be to see the end of the pandemic and be able to hug the ones we love.

Take care and have a fantastic new year.
