Rochfortbridge junction is ‘busy and dangerous’

Council officials are to meet local representatives and residents to consider safety measures at the Rochfortbridge Mullingar Road junction, which has been described as busy and dangerous.

At the January meeting of Mullingar Kinnegad Municipal District, Cllr Denis Leonard proposed that the council meet with the residents and hear their stories. He said it was important to take on board local knowledge and added that there had been a number of incidents there involving pedestrians, children and bikes.

Cllr Emily Wallace submitted that the junction has got busier since a new "shelter" was erected. She called for a safety plan of the area.

Paul McCool, district manager, agreed to ask the road safety engineer to look at the situation and to talk to local people. Cllr Leonard asked that he and Cllr Wallace be included in those talks.
