Measures needed to deal with expected traffic at Lakepoint

A new scheme of local authority houses at Lakepoint, Mullingar, is going to lead to additional vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the area, according to Cllr Michael Dollard.

He has called for more traffic calming measures at The Park and The Close, Lakepoint, and he raised the matter at the February meeting of the Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad.

Members were told that a meeting and walk-about was held with the residents associations last January.

An application has been made for NTA funding for paths in the green areas.

Options to place additional traffic calming measures are being assessed, but at present there are no funds in place for this work.

Cllr Dollard was assured that the matter would be considered at the council’s annual roads meeting next month.
