New houses for Delvin

Six three-bedroom, terraced houses at Athboy Road, Delvin, are expected to be completed by early next year, an announcement that has been welcomed by local councillor, Paddy Hill.

Speaking at the February meeting of the Mullingar Kinnegad Municipal District Council, he hoped they could be done by the end of this year as houses are needed in Delvin.

Cllr Hill was also glad to hear that upgrading of the footpath in Finea is to be considered in this year’s estimates, but he was not so pleased to learn that upgrading of the road L1825 Multyfarnham to Clonave is to be included in the three-year restoration programme for 2024.

“It needs to be brought forward as it is in a very bad state and it cannot wait until 2024,” Cllr Hill said.

Dr Paul McCool, senior executive, said that if the road has deteriorated rapidly the council can have a look at it and see if it needs to be prioritised.
