Irish Olympian and Lidl ambassador, Ciara Mageean, and broadcaster, Kathryn Thomas, joined Lidl Ireland to announce the retailer as the official fresh food partner of parkrun.

Lidl Ireland are to be the official fresh food partner for parkrun, the free, family friendly, community event held in parks and open spaces around the world every weekend.

It is a three-year partnership and the retailer will support parkrun as they continue to encourage the public to maintain healthy and active lifestyles by offering customers fresh, nutritious produce at affordable prices.

Lidl will also provide exclusive coupons and free products to parkrunners and volunteers every week via the Lidl Plus App to reward their efforts and make it easier to make healthy decisions while shopping.

The unique coupon codes will be communicated via the parkrun newsletter on a weekly basis.

Parkrun events are hosted in more than 100 locations around Ireland to encourage people to add physical activity to their weekly routine.

Lidl plan to attend every parkrun location in Ireland over the course of the partnership to distribute fresh fruit, refreshments and their exclusive Lidl x parkrun T-shirts.

The partnership is part of the retailer’s ‘Lidl Steps to a better tomorrow’ commitment which encompasses all their CSR initiatives and aims to create a better, more sustainable future for customers, communities and the world.
