Mullingar karate club member impresses at English tournament

Mullingar Kyokushinkai Karate Club recently returned from London having competed in the English Open Full-Contact ‘Knockdown’ Tournament.

This was the club’s first major outing since February 2020, pre-pandemic. Dimitar Stoyanov represented his Mullingar dojo and country, by taking part in the Cadet (U16-U18yrs) category at full-contact in the lightweight U68kg division.

Dimitar took third place on the day and was awarded the ‘Most Spirited Fighter’ of the tournament having more than held his own against a tough experienced British opponent in the semi-final.

Dimitar showed great composure under pressure and his movement and technique was excellent. He travels every Saturday from Cavan to train at the Mullingar dojo, which is based at the Parish Community Centre on Bishopsgate Street.

Mullingar Kyokushinkai Karate Club train twice weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays and cater for all ages male/female from six years old to adult. New beginners are always welcome. No previous experience is required.
