Artists return to Atrium at Westmeath County Buildings

Westmeath Arts Offices welcome back artists and communities with a busy schedule of upcoming exhibitions, and first up is local man, Padraic Fitzpatrick.

Padraic’s art will be on display in the Atrium of the County Buildings for two weeks, commencing Monday April 25; there is a launch evening on Tuesday April 26 (6-7.30pm).

Padraic previously attended St Brigid’s School. He finished there last summer and he now attends The Link day service with the Muiriosa Foundation in Mullingar.

Padraic is a big fan of superheroes and he enjoys going to the cinema to see his favourites, such as Batman, Spiderman, and Venom, and he gets his artistic inspiration from such films.

Padraic has been drawing from a young age. He started attending to The Link in September 2021, and he continues to develop his creative talents, from his artistry to singing, at The Link.

He is attending an art course with the LWETB, he is learning to play the drums, he is completing singing lessons and he is hoping to complete his exams – Musical Theatre level 3 in singing, this summer.

Padraic is currently doing work experience at the cinema in Mullingar, a job he loves.

Thanks to the availability of the space in the Atrium in the County Buildings, Padraic’s work can now be enjoyed by everyone.

The Atrium is a wonderful resource which allows emerging artists showcase their talents, says Westmeath arts officer Miriam Mulrennan: “We have all missed the live experience, and there is a real appetite to see work, be visual, musical, theatrical, spoken word, and we are delighted to be programming once again.

“We have a lot of work that has been made during the past two years so audiences are in for a treat, whether they are coming to see some of our local and community work, or attending a play in Mullingar Arts Centre, there is a sense of rebalancing, and I think we are all grateful for this.”
