Major cannabis seizure at a grow house in Tyrrellspass

A cannabis growhouse and drugs worth €200,000 were discovered during a search of a premises in Tyrrellspass yesterday evening.

Following a tip off from the public about suspicious behaviour in the vicinity of a disused petrol station on the Main Street of the village, Gardaí entered the property at around 6.30pm and discovered approximately 260 cannabis herb plants with an estimated value of around €200,000 in a shed, along with tools and moblie phones. A car was also seized at the location.

No arrests have been made at this time.

A garda spokesperson told the Westmeath Examiner that the investigation is ongoing and appealed to members of the public who may noticed anything suspicious in the Tyrellspass area in the last number of weeks to contact Mullingar Garda Station.

The seizure is one of the biggest in the Mullingar Garda District in recent years.
