Presentation Senior School proves the Daily Mile works

Deirdre Shaw

Over the past few months the Daily Mile Challenge has been running in the school to improve the physical, social, emotional and mental well being of our students .

The Daily Mile Challenge was run under the guidance of Mr Noel Greally from Athletics Ireland, Westmeath Sports Partnership and Mr Robbie Boyle from Mullingar Shamrocks .

The children participated in running or walking a daily mile along the canal. This challenge was originally set for 2 month, but such was the enthusiasm shown by the students and staff, that we will be continuing the same challenge up to the end of the school yea. We are hoping that this initiative will kick start the same challenge across many more schools both near and far as it is as easily organised, great fun and a winner from the start. Please contact Athletics Ireland for further details of The Daily Mile or check it out on their website at athleticsireland.ie.
