Peter Doran to play gig at the Church Restaurant

“It’s wonderful to be back playing live again, and I can’t wait for this first proper Irish headline show in a couple of years,” says Peter Doran of his gig in Mullingar next week.

“I’ve been playing music for over two decades now, and being from Mullingar, I’ve played all the venues and bars here many times.

“I’m always open to trying something new, always looking for new potential spaces to sing, and to bring people together in, so I was delighted when I approached Pat and Aidan at The Church Restaurant about putting on a show there, that they were open and enthusiastic.

“It’s always exciting to try something new in an historic building like that.”

The show is on Thursday May 5; the restaurant closes at 5pm and will shift into concert mode for an 8pm start.

“Expect songs from my latest record, ‘Voices’, which I released last year in the middle of lockdown, along with some new ones and old favourites,” said Peter.

“On the night I’ll be joined by Brian Murphy on guitars and mandolin and will have my old friend Jimmy Broder up to play some of his wonderful original songs too.

“This will be the first concert here, maybe ever, and I’m super excited to see how it works as a venue for live music.”

The Church has a full bar licence. Tickets are on sale via eventbrite.ie; The Church Restaurant (Castle Street); Wilfs; and 33-45 Records. Doors 8pm.
