Seven homes burgled

Gardai are advising that people ensure both their homes and vehicles are secure when unattended, following a number of thefts and burglaries over the last fortnight.

There were seven home burgled in the last week alone – two in Mullingar, two in Killucan, two in Multyfarnham and one in Castlepollard.

“They are taking anything of value: electronics, cash, jewellery,” a garda spokesperson said on Monday.

He advised that residents take particular care to ensure all doors are locked and windows closed and burglar alarms switched on. If any car is seen acting suspiciously in an area, gardaí will investigate if notified, he said.

In the previous week, there were a lot of thefts from shops but also one or two from cars.

“We are reminding motorists not to leave anything valuable in sight and to ensure their car is locked.”
