The Defence Forces made a welcome return to Mullingar this afternoon.

Fifty five members of 2 Brigade Artillery Regiment (2 BAR) pushed a 1.5 ton heavy artillery gun through the centre of Mullingar as part of a fundraiser that earlier in the day saw them push it though the centres of Longford and Ballymahon.

This afternoon they will be pushing it through the centre of Athlone on their return to Custume Barracks.

The two charities that will benefit from the fundraiser are the Ukrainian Refugee Appeal and the Defence Forces Benevolent Fund.
