O'Leary makes a winning return to the track in Belfast

Jack O'Leary made a winning return to the track in Belfast at the weekend.

Making his comeback from serious injury and running for the first time in Ireland since he returned from college in the US late last year, Jack put in a strong performance in the 5k at the Belfast Irish Milers Meet on Saturday. Pushed all the way by Ben Branagh and Pierre Murchan, he claimed first place with a time of 14:10.81.

Next up for the Mullingar Harriers man, who recently returned from altitude training in France, is the European 10,000m Cup in France later this month where he will represent Ireland.

Speaking to the Westmeath Examiner in March, Jack said that while he hopes to achieve the qualifying standards for the world and European champions, both of which take place this summer, the long term goal is making the Irish team for the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
