A slice of the Big Apple came to Kilbeggan today

There was great excitement in Kilbeggan this morning when the New York GAA squad stopped off at Kilbeggan Shamrocks' ground to warm up before their Tailteann Cup quarter-final against Offaly in Bord na Móna O'Moore Park.

The New York squad, which includes Adam Stones whose father Michael is a native of Kilbeggan, were afforded a warm Westmeath welcome before they made the short journey down the N52 to take on John Maughan's men in Tullamore.

New York's bid for Tailteann Cup glory came to an end at the first hurdle this afternoon when they were beaten by Offaly on a scoreline of 3-17 to 0-11.
